I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas break - The children have told me so many exciting and wonderful things you all did! Thank you for all the lovely Christmas cards and gifts to the Class 1 team – they were all very gratefully received!
As in the Autumn term we will continue to spelling test on a Wednesday so if all homework books could be returned on Wednesdays then they can be checked, tested and returned to you with new homework and spellings at the end of the day on Thursday.
We are very fortunate to continue our forest school sessions with Mrs Hallett on a Monday afternoon supported by the lovely Mrs Kenward. As in the Autumn term year 1 and Reception will have forest school for the first half of the term and year 2 will have this the second half of the term. This is however subject to change so please ensure that your child has in school a long sleeved top, long trousers, wellington boots and a pair of socks every Monday afternoon.
Our topic this term is “Houses and Homes”. We are already receiving your astounding Tudor house creations ready to recreate The Great Fire of London’s Pudding Lane! I have attached a detailed curriculum map showing you what your child will be learning across the different subjects. For our end of term trip we are planning to visit Montacute House to see quite how grand houses and homes can be!
We are very lucky to have Tatty Bumpkin again this term which will be on a Tuesday afternoon with Paula in class. The children will also have dance sessions with the lovely Keri Hill on a Friday morning in the village hall. We will also continue to start each morning with a ‘Wake and Shake’ session to get the children focussed and ready for the school day. Please would you ensure the children keep their named PE kit in school all week – thank you.
Every Tuesday afternoon Mr Mitchell will teach the children music. Years 1 and 2 children can also join Mrs Hallet’s choir sessions after school on Mondays, Running club with Graham and Nicola and/or Mrs Prince’s craft club! Club places are allocated on a first come, first serve basis however there are spaces left in some of the clubs if your child is interested. We do ask that Reception do not attend clubs as the long school day is often a big enough challenge by itself!
Thank you for your continued help and support – particularly your valiant efforts with the Tudor houses – I know this was quite an involved homework! I have also attached a copy of our class one Spring timetable so that you know what your child will be doing on a daily basis in Class One.
If you have any remaining queries please don’t hesitate to ask one of the Class One staff team.
Miss Howell and the Class One team.
