Thinkuknow - home

Good afternoon, everyone Already we have heard positive stories from families in our communities adapting to life during lockdown. There is some good home learning taking place and we have heard how some of you have set up routines, as well as making the most of the sunshine and doing arts and crafts. Google Classroom, Seesaw and Zoom Alongside the work being uploaded on the website, we will be using Google Classrooms for you and your children to interact with new content. This will help teaching staff to upload and monitor home learning remotely and more efficiently. We will be emailing you with the class codes soon. We are aiming to get it safely up and running within two weeks. We are also exploring other platforms such as seesaw (where pupils can communicate their learning by uploading photos of their work) and zoom (where multiple users can enter at the same time so that small group learning may take place - for example with a phonics or an arithmetic lesson). Online safety With more work being done online, please do take the time to remind children of the importance of internet online safety. This is a really useful website from the National Crime Agency with links to activities for different age groups: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk As always, stay safe and we’ll be in touch with the heads’ letter at the end of the week. #staysafestayhome

Happy Mother’s Day to you all. Here are some photos from Friday. Thank you to Mary and Leni from the FONS and the PFA who arranged getting Easter eggs for all the children. Understandably there was a feeling of some uncertainty but we were so immensely proud at how all children were able to smile and enjoy the day. We will be keeping in touch this week with more information regarding home learning. #nshwc #nortonsubhamdonprimary #westchinnockprimary #southsomerset

Dear all, Guidance for schools was released in the early hours of this morning. From Monday 23rd March, the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend. We will now be guided by the principles outlined in the publication and each decision we make carries implications regarding our safety provision and staffing. Please bear with us as we plan and implement how the schools will adapt from Monday and we will update you as best we can by the end of the day as this will take time. Today, we really wish to focus on all our children experiencing a really positive, happy and fun day, which for the vast majority of them will be their last school day for some time. We will be providing more details today and next week on home learning information, support and resources.
